PEKiP Concept

The PEKiP Concept:
The Prague Parent-Child Program, or PEKiP®, was developed in 1973 by Prof. Dr. Christa Ruppelt and Prof. Dr. Hans Ruppelt. It is a group program for parents and their babies during the first year of life.

Foundations:
PEKiP is based on targeted play and movement activities during the first year, inspired by the research of Prague psychologist Dr. Jaroslav Koch at the Institute for Mother and Child in Prague—hence the city name “Prague” in the program’s title.

Since its beginnings in the 1970s, PEKiP has become increasingly popular and widely adopted among parents and children- especially in german speaking countries.

PEKiP Association

Our nonprofit association has been supporting the group work of the Prague Parent-Child Program (PEKiP®) since 1988, focusing on parents and children in early childhood. We emphasize primary prevention in health care and mental well-being for young families and promote the professional development of practitioners in family education.

We raise public awareness about the importance of early childhood development and provide practical guidance on how to apply these insights.

Our mission is to ensure that the PEKiP concept continuously addresses the needs of young families from diverse social backgrounds, neurodivergent experiences, and cultures. In doing so, we contribute to the sustainable strengthening of family education, early childhood development, and parent-child collaboration.
